Understanding ski servicing

A flat base, consistent edges and the right wax

Grinding restores a flat base and corrects wear. Filling repairs deeper scratches before finishing. Sharpening restores consistent edges for grip on hard snow, while waxing nourishes the base and improves glide.

The work depends on the equipment’s condition and construction. Bring skis or a snowboard to the store so a technician can inspect the base, edges and bindings.

Before leaving your equipment

The right service starts with an inspection

Servicing for snow conditions

Hard or icy snow makes consistent edges especially important. Wet or transformed snow may call for a different wax, while abrasive or artificial snow requires closer inspection of the base and edges.

Skis and snowboards

A snowboard needs the same careful diagnosis: base flattening, scratch filling, edge sharpening and waxing are selected according to its condition and intended use.

Frequency and turnaround

There is no useful fixed interval for every skier. Check the equipment before a holiday and after a heavy impact. Turnaround is confirmed after inspection and depends on the repair and workshop workload.

Contact your chosen store before travelling to confirm where to leave your equipment and the current turnaround time.
